Makeup Is Happiness
My mother was always the type of person that took pride in the way she looked. Her vanity was constantly stocked with lipsticks, eye shadows, hairsprays, and curling irons, making it easy for a young girl to fall in love. Because I envied my mother's beauty, I quickly established an interest in makeup. I recall my first time wearing makeup when I was five years old. I softly spread on my mother’s glowing red lipstick, threw on a string of her pearls, slipped on a pair of her heels, and pranced around my room. As I got older, my mother agreed to let me wear more makeup, and we bonded because of it. We spent a lot of time together while she taught me techniques to improve my application.
I’ll never forget the first time I bought an Urban Decay makeup palette. I was ecstatic. It was a long, slender, expensive eye shadow palette including twelve different shades of smooth and buttery shadows. From the moment I brought it home, I had an uncontrollable urge to get more creative. I would receive compliments on the looks I created, and it never failed to make my day. Not only does makeup give room for compliments, it also reassures us that people won't notice how tired and stressed we are, due to the all-nighters we pulled to study for exams. Thank goodness for concealer! Many of us choose to wear makeup because it makes us feel better. It’s the confidence boost that gives us the courage to walk up to our crush and start a conversation. When you look good, you feel good; and when you feel good, you can do anything!
Movie stars, singers, athletes, and other famous figures also wear makeup. One of my favorite television shows, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," motivates me to do my makeup when I haven’t in a while. The Kardashian’s never have a bad hair day, and are always ready for a photo shoot at any minute. I’ll let you in on a little secret: they have the best makeup artists in the industry doing their makeup with top-notch products, making them look flawless and airbrushed. Let’s face it--we wouldn’t watch the movies we did if the actors/actresses didn’t appeal to us. Makeup plays a huge role, even in fiction films like The Dark Knight with the Joker’s famous face paint, The Grinch depicting Jim Carrey as a green Christmas monster, and The Hunger Games showing Elizabeth Banks' Effie Trinket in numerous extravagant faces. Each of these looks has invented uniqueness to their films. Everyone knows the Joker, the Grinch, and Effie Trinket, as well as the movies they represent.
Makeup brings people together from all over the world. Without it, many people would feel naked and insecure. Makeup creates confidence, which leads to success that results in happiness. Therefore, makeup equals happiness.
